Meeting with Philippe Daverio

On Saturday October 16 Philippe Daverio will guide visitors along the path of the Exhibition: the artistic knowledge of the scholar of art and his affectionate admiration for Renata Tebaldi will show how art with a capital A “…the different beauties, together confuses..”, a very pertinent quote when referred to the memory of one of the most worshiped interpreters of “Tosca”.

A concert-performance meant to be a sincere tribute to the great Renata Tebaldi, beloved friend and insuperable artist.
Elio Pandolfi, eclectic personality of  great musicality, very much in love with Opera and operetta, who has become well known in the last 30 years as one of the most important protagonists of light theatre music.  Singer-author of extraordinary communicability, he proposes – together with Marco Scolastra, pianist, – pieces sung, recited, played, as well as hilarious anecdotes, sketches and imitations of his 62 years of theatre.

The nephew of the great of orchestra director Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Giovanni Gavazzeni, who  directed Renata Tebaldi several times in the more frequent operas of her repertoire.
Among these were the last performances at the Scala Theatre with the presentation of Tosca in 1959.


 


Brief biography
 
Giovanni Gavazzeni, who was from Milan, completed music and humanistic studies, and graduated with top marks in Musicology from the University of Milan.
He has collaborated with essays and  other contributions with the highest Italian and foreign musical institutions, with Rai and the most important private stations.
He is a writer of article and a critic for daily newspapers and specialised magazines.
At the moment he is music critic for “il Giornale” of Milan.
